Episode 009 - Lenore Skenazy

Lenore Skenazy

In 2008, she was labelled "The World's Worst Mom" after she let her nine-year-old son ride the New York subway alone. But the public outcry and anger at Lenore Skenazy wasn't enough to stop this determined mom from raising her kids the way she felt was best.

After turning the situation around by making all of us question how we were raising our kids, and whether or not we as a society are too married to the philosophy of "helicopter parenting," Lenore went on to write a book, host a couple of TV shows and provide numerous audiences the pleasure of hearing her speak about this fearful world that we've created for our kids. A strong believer in letting children grow up supported by independence, self-reliance and the ability to make decisions, Lenore has become a leading voice in the Free Range Parenting movement. Lenore frequently adds her thoughts and opinions on this topic via her website, Free Range Kids.

In November, 2017, Lenore embarked on her latest venture, Let Grow, which aims to facilitate free, unstructured play and greater independence for kids at both school and home (and out in the world, unsupervised).
